September 20, 2009: Time to pop this article up to the top!

Here’s one of these handy websites I just love this time of the year – The Fall Foliage page from The Weather Channel. They update it every couple of days beginning late August through mid-November.

Here’s the Northeast map

Here’s the Lower 48 (hmm.. does Alaska and Hawaii have fall foliage?)

Clicking on either of the above maps, you’ll be taken to the weather.com’s page. From there, you’ have more map choices such as East Central, Southeast, North Central, Northwest, Southwest. There’s also maps for “Normal Fall Peaks” which can be handy if you’re traveling to an area you’re not familiar with and are curious what the fall color potential will be when you arrive.

The leaves don’t seem to be cooperating with that map. At least they aren’t here in the northeast part of Maryland. I hope the colors this year don’t go: green–>brown–>down.
