“I’m going to be an owner!” Take 2

December 5th, 2009. Filed under: Ownership.

Mooney 205 SEI was extremely excited, and as a result pre-mature to announce the last Mooney I thought I was going to purchase. I was hurt morally and financially when it failed the pre-buy and the owner didn’t want to make concessions.

But things are different this time! I actually waited for it to clear the pre-purchase before making this public announcement (again) – I’m going to be an OWNER!

Now THAT'S what I call a PANEL!

Now THAT'S what I call a PANEL!

Meet Katie, my new plane:

Check out this list of goodies:

WX-950 Storm Scope

Aspen's Electronic Flight Display - Pro

Aspen's Primary Flight Display

King KFC-150 Auto Pilot (pretty standard fare) Linked to 530, Aspen and VOR
with Altitude / Vertical Speed Selector
and Yaw DamperAltitude and Verticle speed selector (not so standard items!)
Hoskins Fuel flow computer (linked to 530)
JPI EDM-700 Engine Monitor (linked to 530)

Factory Speed Brakes
Vertical Card Compass
High Intensity Discharge landing light
Digital Tachometer
One tank getting complete reseal from Willmar (in the shop now)
SkyTec lightweight starter
Plane Power Alternator
New Muffler, Battery, Goodrich tires
Interior and paint are original. Rate about a 7
Interior has the tweed covering all the plastic panels

Isn't that the purdiest thang you've ever seen?

Isn't that the purdiest thang you've ever seen?

With the awesome combination of the boutique, high performance engine rebuild from Gann, the GAMInjectors and the JPI engine monitor, this bird will cruise at 160kts while sipping just 9.5 gal/hr. WOW!

Since I’m not rated for complex planes yet, the current owners are kind enough to have agreed to fly her to my home drome next week (if it gets out of the shop on time).

I’m counting down the days, hours minutes!

Bob, congratulations on your new Mooney! Looks like you have a lot of good equipment in it. It’s always worth waiting for the right plane. I bet you’ll be adding a lot of states to your “States Visited” map. Congratulations!
